Evaluating real estate

I am looking at this house but I know nothing about buying. I have become confused due to all the research. I am looking for a good agent in the Dallas, TX area. Anyone know a good agent?

I know around here, I can look up recent sales on-line to get a gauge of the market.

Have you ever owned a home, or be responsible (rent) for one?
aka, know what to look for / what you like/don't like

If I ever bought again, I'd have a more specific list of what to consider.
First time it's like - Oh! look what we can afford!!
