if an emo o a goth seen this theyd be so afended

there is a massive difference they dont think there anything alike at all.

There is a difference. Goth is more about the melancholy darker sides of life, and emo is more about sadness They were both countercultures, but most of the old way is gone thanks to trendies. Now a days most self proclaimed "goths" and "emos" are probably just trendy and pretentious people which i will have to agree are pretty much the same.

Goths like vampires and old school horror
emo's like slashing their wrists with beans cans while writing depressing poetry.
in other words they can both be killed by similar weapons which you can find locally, make or have imported

Goth har more in common with industrial rock and techno/electronic music.

Emo is an offshoot of hardcore punk. There's screaming too, which is rare in goth.

in goth, the inspiration is a mutant offspring of German Expressionist Cinema. Emo is more of a music/pop culture kinda thing. It's not really about writing depressing poetry and s*** like that that most people think... I'm guessing

There's is a difference. Goths focus more on life in general as being dark and abysmal. Emos are more focused on how their lives being depressing. lonely, and pointless.
Doesn't seem like much of a difference but it's there.

Emo music consists of Fall out boy, Razmataz and Incubus, goth music consists of Seraphim shock, Akercoke and Marilyn Manson, Emo's cry and cut their hair into a certain shape, Goths don't.

There's a huge difference.

Goth has to do with art and expressing your self in a dark, but not necessarily sinister. It's old school and most goths that I know and hang out with are really nice and aren't depressed, and I've never seen any that cut. Not to say that all emos are.
There's not a certain hairstyle, clothing/make up style.

Emo is a "sub-culture" and form of music. Generally, they're more extreme and have a one track mind. Almost like they don't allow more room for expansion in style, ect. Melodramtics, pity parties, self-wallowing...

But this is all from my personal observations.

I'm goth, pretty much.
