I have ridiculously dry, irritated hands. It's very annoying and uncomfortable.

I wear gloves whenever I go outside, I use hand lotion, and I even have these special gloves to leave on for 30 min or so with moisturizer inside them.

But by the next day they are just as bad as they were before

Anyone have the same problem and want to offer other tips?

I have that problem. I used to lose the skin on my finger tips during the winter.
It's better now. I used the Aveda Hand lotion that seemed to help. Basically I use lotion all the time. or my skin will crack.
I tried Eucerine cream too, but that was too greasy and annoying.

So Aveda's good? I think I use like St. Ive's or something.

Oh... use this stuff called "Nivea " It works wonders...

Or you could try the Vaseline clinical strength lotion.

Yeah, I really liked the Aveda stuff. Though I'm sure Lush has some good lotions too.
My dad uses some Curel brand lotion that helps his dry hands.

Cool, I'll probably give Aveda a try then. Thanks for the suggestions

You can buy "sleeping gloves" online.. Before bed, rub in some HEAVY moisturizer, and then slip on the gloves. They keep the moisturizer on your hands and off your sheets, and help it to really soak in while you sleep. My sisters use them, as they have the same problem, and they say that they work.

I mean I guess I could sleep with the gloves I have already. I usually leave them on for about an hour and it does work until I wash my hands

I know the diagnosis. I may not be correct, but psoriasis may be the main culprit.

Psoriasis has levels to it, I presume.

you may want to see a dermatologist. It sounds kind of serious. Something is probably wrong with your skin...

An ex neighbor of mines sister, worked for the Nuetrogena company, and she gave her lots of samples of things to try, and she in turn gave to me to try.

One of which was a lotion (can't recall the name), but look in the drugstore where you'd find Nuetrogena products; and this lotion was developed especially for deep sea fisherman..
I tried some, and man, was it hard for someone with normal skin to wash off...it wasn't greasy at all though, I can't explain it..you'd have to try it, it's pretty amazing stuff.
With the sounds of your hands, it's people like you who it was made specifically for; your hands would drink it right up.

Bath and Body Works used to have a specific type of lotion that was EXCELLENT for dry skin, especially in the winter. I'll try to stop in on Monday and see if they still carry it, but I still have some at home from my last shopping spree there
