Yo.

I'm cleaning up an HP Pavillion G60-120 notebook, and the first thing I did was install XP over it. The problem with that being that all the official drivers for it are designed for Vista, and aren't compatible with XP. That's one problem.

The other is that several of these (such as the network card) are generic devices, without a proper name attached to them. How do I secure drivers for those?

So...how does one get XP drivers for this? >_>

Try DriversGuide.com , or google drivers guide.

You could also go to the HP site, they should have the driver available there.

Yup, that's tough. You need to figure out just what hardware you have (this would have been much easier if you determined this before you erased all the preinstalled drivers).

The computer may have come with a driver disk that, while useless for XP, could give you important insight into the hardware on the notebook.

Course, you could just stick with Vista. Vista is better than XP.

The best you can generally do is try to find a laptop with about the same hardware that came with XP pre-installed, then cannibalize it's drivers.

HP doesn't provide XP drivers for laptops that came with only Vista as an option.

Don't start with me about Vista. -_-

And the problem with HP...is that they're Vista drivers...for my XP. Haven't ever been to driver's guide before.

At the very least I can get the hardware specs from the HP site.

Vista is a great OS. It takes a little getting used to if you've been hacking around with XP for years, but it's excellent. Just a couple of minor tweaks and it's fast and stable.. and it's much smarter and more logical than XP.
