I guess the reason I shared this about my girl is this part of your post is really setting off some red flags for me .

Did your grand dad ever explains why he would teach you this. ? It would be deeper then ' I just want you to know or be on the look out ' did he also teach you any sort of physical self defense skills , while teaching you that every male you meet is a potential predator ?

He taught me about something he strongly believed to be the best way, for many reasons. One is very personal which I refuse to disclose on here, and others for being an advocate of human rights and a supporter of women rights.

He had a long career in the legal system, dealing with all sorts of people from different walks of life and backgrounds. My parents had same career too.
With time, I made my own opinion and I admit to have a low opinion about men in general for many reasons. All related to my profession and own findings.

However, I don't generally trust strangers at face value, therefore, it's less likely that I'm going to trust a man easily.
I learnt self defense when I did my national military training for two years. I still remember the techniques although I never had to use it on anyone.

Sometimes, I think my grandfather is worst than Judge Judy !

men can unpredictable like women are.

men can be immature at times, that depend how they raise. maybe depend who more dominating in the family. the mother or father.

men have low esteem because of lack of male roles in the life. someone to look up to. mothers can dominate men that men have low-esteem from them. so they problems dealing with women aren't their mothers.

society teach men to be head of the family, back then, men wouldn't consider women as a equal or have a job.

nowsdays, women have a career and a family, they not always need a man in their life. men are more confuse by this, a threat by women.

It's wrong to lump all 'men ' into the same lump by saying things like
Quote:
men can unpredictable, men can be immature , men have low esteem
men are threatened by career women . Yes there are some men that fit perfectly into the lumpy mold you have molded with your words . But there are many more that do not fit that mold at all .

Since we started out with calling them predators , in the wilds where there are only two types of animals predators and prey lets remember that in most prey animal groups its the females who do most if not al the predator job . but two have narrowed down to just males are predictors. 'll give a heads up here. Some time you will be eyeballing the male wary of what he's up to , when you will sooner then later find that he is keeping your attention distracted so you don't notice his lady friend coming on your blind side to 'invite ' you for their dinner .
Not all men nor all women are out on the hunt , but it's a good habit to focus on the surroundings until you know which ones are and which ones aren't on the prowl for victims.

That poster seems like a nice intelligent lady overall, but I gotta say as a man that has never abused a woman and feels great rage toward men that do, I felt a sting reading that post. I know it's not personal but it did sorta rub me the wrong way.

i think stalkers that for their prey to for self-esteem women. women are mild-manned, what you called ' mousey ". nowdays, cybernet that men stalks women are have lack of confidence and live in fantasy world. this another thread subject.

i was try to said doesn't matter where these stalkers meet or stalk their victims. the stalker can connect with the victim through the internet. on social network like the forum. ( twilite, stop saying to me. " hi there , you sexy devil! " :lol i mean social website like a date site, you go on to find your mate.

i think there are two different kind of stalkers, one that a women doesn't know that stalker is watching her and knowing her routine. then woman open her front of her home or her apartment's door. then the stalker come behind her and attack her.

other stalker is a man , who stalk bars at social public areas. or they meet the woman that is more less random. like grocery, post office, banks and libraries and other public places. the stalker want to visual with a lot of people. he is looking for women, who has a lack of confidence within themselves. easy prey to them.

the stalker is could be an expect in body of language, so he can tune into faster her than the women could pick up his body language with her senses. he can strike a conversation with her. now, she feel comfortable with her. he find a place almost anywhere. when they alone. then he attack her.

i watch a lot of tv and movies, and now on the forum with articles , i read. so i know by this and i have enough information. that i don't want to be this kind of man.

swan - your right. that i am using men in generally term that specifying a group of men. it is easy for me for understand what i mean. so i am wrong to say every man is a bad person. men are good and bad, not perfect.

I watch Cold Blood, Crimes, Sins and Secrets, Crimes of Rich and the Famous, The Forensic Detectives, The Killers, Women who Kill and 24 hours to Kill.

All true documentaries about abhorrent crimes.

I read cases of crimes from the local government database, a site set up by the Law Society to inform people of all cases.

Think it's not enough when you can never guarantee full safety and read people's mind.

Thank you for expanding on this. As a mother who had a daughter and as a woman who has had unpleasant experiences with unpleasant people the
mental image of a man teaching a child to 'fear her own shadow ' was the where the red flags were coming from. I learned a longtime ago that
i's better to ask then just let the' flags ' fester. 'it's doubly important to ask when on the web, tone of voice and facial expression are missing from the conversation .

was what I wasm getting. but

i don't think women will full safety with these kind of men. the fact is to many of them around free is scary to think how easy is for them to attack.

like these kind of stalkers can see the vulnerability in the woman, in sense, they are read her mind.

And that is exactly what I was trying to say hen I shared my tale of teaching my girl about the different types of people she would mert inn her journey called this life. If you met a at a social gathering, lets say for sake of the conversation , a PTA meeting for your hypothetical kids , ( I read in the featured thread you don't have any) a PTA meeting is a totally different slant from say a pub or night club ,,
So you meet a woman for the first time ever and for no reason she starts out treating you as a potential predator . How would you react/ respond to this woman ? .

It would be an odd feeling. In real life I'm a pretty non-threatening guy, I'm only 5'9" and have always had sort of a baby face. So I tend to look "safe". In my later years I've put on some weight and have a goatee and long hair so I look like a bit of a biker now, but anyways in general women typically don't feel threatened by me.

In typing this I can recall one time where a woman was afraid of me. I was probably 20 yrs old and I saw this elderly black lady on the side of the road and she was having car problems apparently. So I stop and offer to help her and the look of fear she had when I approached her really took me back. I felt sorry for her. I politely backed away from her and left her alone.

I wasn't a nice feeling to have someone prejudge me without knowing me, but that's ok, She was old and small. I don't blame her. It's just a shame is all, but that's the world we live in.

Well, treating a man as a potential predator doesn't come with specific treatment. It's just a mental way of being wary about things until feeling safer gradually. No such actions required to show the person the very personal safety measures.
Giving respect to any man is the right thing to do and their entitlement, until proven unworthy of it. But trusting anyone naively is quite risky in my view.

I can't remember the last time I watched a sit com or any documentaries or even commercial . but I had enough experiences with 7 step mothers to give me all the insight into the twisted warped mind of drunks , druggie , and people who would soon be successful at suicide .
I don't believe people need a weekly fix of abhorrent crimes, real life ones or Hollywood style ones ,to help them remember that some people are just bad to the core. If your head is full to the too with images shown along with the story of those abhorrent crimes . How is there any room for pleasant thoughts and images ? there really is many more good to the core people inn the world then there are bad to core peoole .

The pleasant side comes from my other interest, hobbies, daily small activities, feeling good about my health and quality time with close people.

My TV is always on whilst I'm on the internet. I can't make time just to watch TV with my work / social commitments and part time studies.

I believe it's called a balance.

I will admit that I took your words 'treat every male as a potential predator' in a literal sense. And that puts a mental image of either a scaredy cat type jump at her own shadow type person or going around like a person plowing though people like a bulldozer or battle ship .
both images are scary for different reasons . the first one feeling scared for the girl the second one feel pity for the lack of warmth in her world.

We all have those memories of being young and trusting someone naively and remembering that , that was a very painful lesson .
You hit it spot on , treating a stranger with respect until you learn whether to leave them be or you want get to know them better mean you have to trust them .
respect and trust do not go hand in hand ever when first meeting a person .
That was painful lesson learned a very early age for me. the rep that is historically associated with step mothers is an earned one IMO
