There is no logical explaination why school children should do P.E in bare feet, especially in the UK where it's all I hear of.

I hated doing in P.E in bare feet, or anything for that matter.
Even now, I refuse to be barefoot for long periods of time.

You shouldn't be made to condone it if you don't like it.
I say that it should be considered for what is already our unacceptable health and safety laws in the UK, that school children must have proper sports gear, especially sports shoes and socks.

What's your take on it?

Well we when we originally evolved, footwear did not exist. However people getting used to footwear meant we were not being like we naturally should, and feet are not in their natural position. When the africans used to run across the desert they were fine.

The human body is highly adaptable, the skin quickly toughens up. It is becuase we are used to our weakling nicities.

I have high foot arches, that is basically a mutation or dformity, however you look at it caused by years and years of humans wearing footwear and our bodies evolving in a wierd way.

No I am not angry about my high foot arches at all.

Actually, working out in your bare feet can be good for you for a lot of reasons. For school children especially, it can help you improve your balance and improve your muscle alignment. What better time to start than when your body is still developing?

Sure, for contact sports you should wear shoes.

Yeah I agree, if your on the running track it probably aint a good idea. But gym work, I think bare feet is better. Its more natural for a start. On a gym mat, does it do any damage, not wearing trainers?

Also not every kids parents can afford high quality trainers, so you dont know if they are designed properly and doing the feet any good.

Also it gets rid of the whole who's got the most expensive trainers thing.

Also we are in the middle of a recession. WHere is the money for this sports gear going to come from. Are you gonna raise taxes more, fire some teachers, fire some nurses or fire a doctor. Maybe fire some policeman.

The stuff aint free. And not all parents can afford it.

Honestly, I never did the whole "who's got the most expensive trainers" thing. Gym shoes when I was in school were more like...supportive shoes that you don't wear anywhere else.

I'd wager to say that it is never harmful to not wear shoes as long as you're not running on an abrasive surface or expecting to stub your toe or something. Hmm..should clarify as long as you don't have any underlying issues.

Furthermore, you can probably do more damage by wearing the wrong kind of shoe. With your high arches, you may have some insight into that.

Well the funny thing is, that unless I have a heel lift operation, which Im not going to. I need insoles in trainers. So that I walk heel first, instead of walking sole of foot and toes first. I didnt know about it till early last year. The foot physio said it was only the 6th case he had seen in 21 years. ANd he was a foot specialist. Really wish I had known about it a lot earlier.

But when it comes to buying trainers, I have a pair of air cushioned running trainers. Then a set of casual trainers which I would never use in the gym. They are just not designed for it.

However when I have done martial arts and boxing, I have always been bare footed. It just feel more natural as it is less weight on your feet. Not to mention a lot safer.

I wear crocs every wear inside the house unless I'm bathing.

The multi-clustered plantar wart and it's satellites make it feel as though I'm stepping on baby mice. Crocs diminish the effect.

Do you sleep in them then as well?

Or do you sleep outside the house?

It all comes down to personal preference in this case, you've stated you hate going bare footed,I on the other hand prefer to go bare footed.
As a kid in Sydney all those years ago,we ran around all day without shoes on and thought nothing of it,today you've got all manner of sports footware, most of which don't let your feet breathe,so comes the end of the day or your work out they happily go out side and sit in the sun and stink.
I suppose in all fairness to you, your in England, and England doesn't have hot weather, not hot that we here in Australia would call hot.

I gotta agree about the heat. When I was abroad in the desert, I would wear flip flips if and when I could otherwise my feet would just stink, even after a shower, it just isnt hygenic.

And its the same after a wrkout, your feet are sweating they need to breathe.

It will be a cold day in hell the day I place my barefoot on a dirty floor like a gym floor. Disgusting. It will also be a cold day in hell my feet are in crocs, flip flops or other unfashionable shoes. I might even prefer my barefoot on a dirty gym floor with germs and contamination over them in crocs or flip flops.
