Does dying your hair and putting on make up make you "fake"?

The most asinine thing I've ever heard: NO.

I dye my hair because I got bored with my natural hair color; dirty blond.
I've been dying my hair since I was 11 and Ive done many different colors; purple, red, brown, and black. Not I've got some blue and green.

It's not like I'm trying to attract people, I'm doing it while I'm still young and am allowed to do so.

No there isn't. I agree with you though, it doesn't make you fake. That's just how people would like to perceive you... possibly because they aren't bold enough to do something like that themselves. Your body, your appearance, you should be allowed to look how you want. Now what would make a person fake is to tell you all of this and then go and talk about you and your hair and make-up behind your back. That's fake. Manipulators, liars... that's phony, it's fake =/

It may not be fully real, but, when you talk of someone being fake, you are referring to their personality, not what they have on, if they dyed their hair, or wear make up.

That's why it's not called real when you don't, it's called natural.

I always thought it was fun to do different things with my hair. It's just a way of expressing yourself.

i see someone who is fake as being someone who acts fake. not themselves for all the wrong reaons.

no-- not 'fake' really... its not natural, but some people just dont want that look, so it could be considered more true to their personality to have an their own expressive style...

No, I wouldn't say it's fake but it depends on the situation. I think it's a way of expressing yourself and you should be able to do whatever you want to make yourself feel confident in who you are and what you do. I think the only way I would consider it fake would be to try and be JUST like someone else. It depends on that situation too, but why not be yourself? Other than that, no.

Simply using make up or changing your hairstyle does not make you fake.

However, fake people sometimes use a lot of make up and/or change their hair drastically. There's usually a bit of an attitude that goes along with it. I find the latter much more obnoxious than someone who just feels like changing their appearance a bit.

Hmmm. I am not fake. But I am certainly not natural either.
I feel more comfortable with who I am when I wear makeup, or dye my hair. To some it's a style, or an expression of who they are. I think you can be true to you, without being natural, for sure. I just feel less ugly when it's with lipgloss, war paint, and having my hair did.

Hmm, nope, i would say its an expression of who you are inside more than anything fake.
Fake people to me are the ones who put on a persona that isnt true to themselves in order to impress others..
