For example, if a person has horrible self-esteem issues because he or she weighs five or six hundred pounds and then manages to loose the weight and become considerably better looking, does that mean that the person's self-esteem issues are resolved? Or if a person suffers from horrid acne, and his or her self esteem is affected because of it, will gettin rid of the acne get rid of the self-esteem problem?

I guess the obvious answer would be 'yes', but I disagree wholeheartedly with that answer. I think self-esteem issues are rooted far deeper than people realize. It's more than skin deep. I think those people will find something else to pick on in their own bodies or in their own personalities. And if not, when the looks once again diminish with age, so will the person's self-esteem. Looks don't solve the problem IMO. What do you think?

It has nothign to do with it. I suffer from psoarisis, actually broke out again, and I still have high self esteem. Let people look at me and it. I don't give a flying f***.
I dont' need their validation to feel good about myself.

i agree with you, i know this chick who's really pretty, but has a low self esteem, she gets surgery done and stuff to her body when it was fine in the first place, if you tell her that her nose looks weird, she'll go out and get it fixed, it's kind of sad actually

i don't think that self-esteem issues are resolved physically. they are more mental, IMO
