Do you ever realize that you have something of high worth only after it is gone?

Have you ever had a material item that had been lost, stolen, sold, donated, or tossed out before you realized that it was worth so much (in terms of cost rather than sentimental value)?

I lost my $3,750 wedding ring in a park wrestling with my son. It came off my finger and I did not realize it until an hour later and we had already drove home. We went back to the park and even brought a metal detector with us but never found it. I cryed for a week and felt so horrible that I did not get it sized to fit my finger after I lost some weight.
