Thought it would be interesting to see how the values/customs differ between the United States and the UK.

We've all probably noticed some whilst discussing things on here, so let's see if we can list as many differences as possible.

Blech peanut butter

There's a point, don't think I could ever stomach a peanut butter and jam sandwich, sounds icky.

Swearing is more accepted with the British from what I have seen on here. I think the humour is more dry too.

That's true. I was quite shocked that people on here from America didn't swear as much as we all seem to. I always thought it was more acceptable over there than here actually.

I tend to find Americans are a lot more conservative in general, swear less and don't always get sarcasm Sarcasm is like our 2nd language lol

Peanut butter is disgusting.

I've noticed people from the UK call strangers things like "honey," "sweetie," etc. a lot more frequently than I've ever noticed over here.

Yeah, there's a lot of those kind of names about, all very irritating. You mainly hear 'love' or 'darling' where I'm from, it's very patronising.

I think our humour is more subtle at times than the American humour, but then I'm only basing it on what I've heard from American comedians which isn't a lot.

I got one. School uniforms. I never had to wear a uniform. I know some private schools here require them, but I went to public school and wore tshirts and jeans.

I like your humor better tbh. I'm a dry sarcastic humor type of person though.

I've been living in the U.S. for almost 5 years now. I wouldnt say most americans are conservative. For example..they're very open about the use of marijuana (those who use it, anyway) Where I live its almost close to being decriminalized..where as in britain it's illegal.

Americans seem to put religion way higher up the list of priorities than the average Brit?
