it really confusses me how a parent can do things like this to a child, their own flesh and blood, you are supossed to want to protect your kids, not harm them

I know of a family of girls who's father sold them to sailors and anyone prepared to buy him drink. The abuses he did to those girls is unprintable.

One night he was bringing the young girls of a freighter having been up to his usual abuse when he "accidentally" went over the side of the gangway falling between the ship and the dockside. NOBODY on the quay moved other than to walk or drive away and natural justice was done.

What sort of mother could just ignore that...??
