Do you have a favourite meal that you've managed to throw together with whatever's in the cupboard? I mean the kind of meal that you haven't looked at a recipe or anything like that, the kind that's experimental.

What is it?

I once added tobasco sauce to cheese on toast. It was a phenomenon. Complicated though, with three different ingredients and all, so it will require a bit of trial and error.

I used to have a friend who would take any kind of leftovers, heat it up and wrap it in a flour tortilla. I suppose that's more of a refrigerator concoction though.

Pasta, I just throw whatever I can find in the cupboard into it at times.

Probably could do the same thing with rice.

In fact, I remember as a kid we used to eat rice with peanut butter and rice with tuna and soy sauce.

Yes they are. Not really much different than eating a peanut butter sandwich or a tuna sandwich (without mayo).

I suppose, but it's not something you'd think of putting together. I've never tried peanut butter and I don't like Tuna though.

I'm wondering now who came up with the idea. I'm pretty sure it wasn't me.

I've heard of worse ideas though. When I was in school we were comparing "weird foods" and the two strangest sandwiches I heard were "mustard and sugar" and "mayonnaise and marshmallow creme".

My friend has mashed potato mixed with mint sauce!

I think when you have fried off mince beef and onion you can add more or less anything.

I always have noodles in the cupboard and often chuck any old sauce over them.

I did this the other night. I had some grilled chicken strips in my freezer that I thawed and heated. Added it to some buttered noodles and corn and voila I a very bland looking meal. It was quite good though!!

Oh yeah...tater tots (pictured below in case you know them by another name) covered with chili and cheese. A bit like a variation of chili cheese fries.
