One of my favs is to tell unsuspecting Americans about one of the best jobs you can get in Sydney - that of Whoosher. The Whoosher is the guy in the main street of Sydney (actually there are a couple of Whooshers because Sydney has about three or four streets) that, because of the large Kangaroo population, is paid to literally "whoosh" the kangaroos off the roads. The whoosher will walk from one end of Paramatta road to the other ( ) waving his/her arms and making a whooshing sound - this scares the kangaroos and they usually move to the side of the streets and into the shade of the gum trees that line the roads.
These whooshers are employed around the clock on a full time basis as the kangaroos tend to have very short term memories and usually forget that they've been whooshed just a half an hour ago.
True!

Ok well I think thats kinda like what bcm said about the kangaroos. Since I moved from the coutry to the city I have not seen a single snake. When I was in the country it was an almost daily occurance. Spiders are everywhere but they dont really like people much so it works out well really. Sharks are a worry in South Australia and sometimes the east coast. The main thing to watch out for is Drop Bears.

So that would be around Darwin somewhere? Yeah lots of crocs and kangaroos and snakes and all sorts of things up there but I think they stay away from people. You should see if you can have a look at Kakadoo National Park. It is apparently THE most amazing place in Australia as far as wildlife is concerned.
I think your Aunt will know about Drop Bears - you should ask her.

Lol, yea, last time my family visited her in Oz she took them to kakadoo, there are now some amazing pictures on the walls! So beautiful I'd love to see that, I'm sure she'd go again! Yea she lives just outside Darwin I think... in the middle of no-where... but I don't think they see too many snakes... she's always going on about the birds tho, very pretty apparently
