Could you survive on just love instead of love + sex?

much, much easier said than done, good intentions are strong things but so are hormones, for some people it would be too much to bear, libido can be a cruel thing at times.

As much as people have a tendency to believe that sex and love tend to be synonymous with eachother, I think that love, real love, is a more powerful source. Granted, I am certainly not saying that sex aint great and that i wouldnt want to have to live without it, but I think, if push came to shove, I would be able to abstain for the sake of love.

I have had great sex and I have had great love..its just a whole lot more great if you can have them at the same time!

Been in a marriage where there wasnt anything for a year before we split....couldnt ever go thru that again...very lonely,frustrating,neglected,rejected etc feelings.
There are other ways to have a physical connection,other than the act of intercourse, if it is because of a physical thing.

I think I could do without sex, but not without the intimacy. There would still have to be touches and hugs etc.

It would depend really....I wouldnt go into a relationship knowing that I couldnt have sex with the person EEVER...call me shallow...call me what you want but although sex isnt a HUGE deal...it does play a minorly important role in a relationship.
Now if something happened and you could NO LONGER have sex with you S/O then yes I think it could be possible through other forms of sex (oral/toys/whatever)There are definately ways around it but no sex ever right from the get go wouldnt work for me.

Sex is important in a relationship. It's in our natural instinct and its also the ultimate expression of love.
I know, me personally couldn't live without it. Sometimes I get mad at my husband and try to hold out on him but it never works.
But I agree with nodramajustme said, if something happened to wear it was no longer possible to have sex then there are other forms and methods. I wouldnt end a relationship for it.

I could do without it for a while as im the kind of person who won't sleep with a woman until 4-6 months of dating. After that however I would try to help her with her problem as best I can without pressuring her.

Im like semi here, I can do w/out the sex (which I have for a longgggg time now ) but I still enjoy the affections and hugs and kissies

I have been in the situation where I couldn't have sex for a long while because of injury but the actual act didn't bother me cos I had the feeling of lots of affection.

There are many couples that are seriously happy and don't engage in the act of intercourse

I guess it all depends on what the relationship was founded on. If sex is what got the couple together then more or less I'd say no it would'nt work if sex were to be removed from the equation. Now on the other hand if love is the strong point of the relationship then of course you could do what you had to do.

I also think that if it's a medical condition or something like that you'd have a better chance at making it work then if say one of the people just decided that they did'nt want sex anymore.

When D. had his accident in 2005 we went about 60 days without much more than a soft kiss. I could'nt even sleep on his chest at night because of the injuries. We survived that and man when we got back our sex life ..........well lets just say we had a lot of lost time to make up for.

When I was sick a couple of years ago I could'nt or would'nt have sex , we survived that so yeah if your hearts in the right place it can work.
