I've been on a kick lately watching older movies and I'm really enjoying the classic action/drama genre. Watched All Quiet on the Western Front, Cimmaron, and Mutiny on the Bounty recently. I also like the older WWII films like Bridge on the River Kwai and The Great Escape.

Anyone else? Any favorites in this category?

How old is old? I'm thinking of the classic Arnie and Stallone movies. The Running Man, Terminator, First Blood, Commando, Predator, Cobra, etc.

Running Man was cool if for nothing other than the fact that you get to see Richard Dawson drop the F-bomb.

Yeah, those are all great!

The Great Escape is an all time classic.
There is also Escape to Victory, The Colditz Story, and 633 Squadron are great films too.

I've not watched Zulu Dawn, and I don't ever plan on. When I first joined the Royal Engineers everyone would bug us to watch Zulu.

And see, here's the thing...the cheesiness sort of makes them better in a way but only if they're from the 80s or earlier. Maybe it's because those are the movies I watched as a kid and thought they were great back then.

Kind of like the old A-Team series. I used to watch it every Tuesday night in the early 80s when it was first on and thought it was the coolest show. It's on Netflix instant view now and I tried watching it a few months ago...and it was one of the stupidest things I'd ever seen! But I still watched it.
