Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has confirmed that he will try to change the law to allow him to remain in power indefinitely.

Under the current constitution, Mr Chavez will have to leave office at the end of his term in 2012.

But he says he wants to remain in power for as long as Venezuelans continue to support him.

The constitution is under review and Mr Chavez is expected to make changes to cement in law his socialist revolution.

What I find interesting is that some people like Sean Penn and Danny Glover think Bush is a dictator and wanting to take away people's rights but they love Chavez who is open about his intentions of being a dictator.
If you remember not long ago Chavez shut down a TV station that was critical of him and now he wants to remain in power indefinitely.

How is he a dictator when he has majority support, unlike Bush?

Whether we like it or not, Bush won the popular vote in 2004. Continuing to roll out this tired line does not help the image of the democratic party.

And as to whether he is a dictator or not, we'll see how many general elections he calls if he get's his way and extends term length.

One of the aims of limited term length is that it ensures that public opinion is polled frequently, and allows regime change when the public no longer favors the party in power.

Are you saying I'm a supporter of the Democrats, even though I'm not American?

wasn't directly my intention, but I'll give you that it sounded like that. My point is more that this is a pretty tired line from the anti-bush camp, since although he lost the popular vote in 2000, he won it in 2004. When you focus on non-issues like this, it's creates the illusion that you have no real issue to mention.

I figure it's up to his countrymen to figure that out.

It's not up to anyone else to go in and impose and inflict what they think democracy is on anyone else.

Talking about being reviewed, the US are contemplating bringing the draft back.

It as being uttered by a General

They have been talking about that for years. It is nothing new and not likely to happen.
