I'd like to see the opinions of the folks that love giving negative kudos for all pro gun threads. So do you folks think it's possible to quell all conflict with only non-lethal weapons? If so how would it be accomplished?

I see all of these anti-gun threads but i had assumed it was for civilian uses but apparently it's for guns all across the board. So explain how it would be possible to keep a population controlled without a lethal weapon. Even the UK has swat mind you.

Looks as though the military is interested, but it's for mob and crowd control and not to be used against a large enemy force. Global security org lists

Then there's of course the argument that non-lethal weapons can still be lethal. A rubber bullet can still kill if accidentally fired near the head, a tazer has the chance of killing a weak hearted person (remember the person in that Canadian airport). So even when the police try to go the non-lethal route, accidents happen and they're verbally attacked anyways. I can assure you that the police and military can't keep the peace only with words.

For crowd control they should definitly use non leathal weapons (and they do most of the times), but as far as everything else goes, no.

If nothing else the carrying of firearms is a mandatory intimadation factor.

I keep thinking of that Bank Of America robbery in California that is always overplayed on television "worst shootouts". The robbers were using Fully automatic weapons with complete body armor and armor piercing rounds. The police were so out matched, at one point in the gun battle they ran to a local gun store and borrowed AR-15's (civilian equivalent to the military M-16). In this event, the cops guns didn't even have an effect. Peaceful means didn't work with those individuals in the least.

still...if the cops made, and used, laughing gas cannisters the criminals would have died laughing!!

Guns are a necessity in law enforcement and military. Cuz people will still get them illegaly and do we really want unarmed police officers out there trying to stop someone with a gun? And what is with the negative kudos? I don't give people negative kudos just because their opinions are different then mine. So why did me and ace get one for talking about guns?

I think you have your peaceful type and extremist type of posters. Peaceful ones agree and disagree with people with their words. Extremist type hate hearing someone elses opinion and choose to act against it.
