My laptop has become really slow recently and I just wondered, can I restore it back to how it was when I bought it, and if I can, will it make it faster, how it used to be?

I don't know what's happened to it but it's freezing up a lot on me and it's become very annoying.

I'm running Vista by the way.

I did this with my old computer and it was as good as new, only I can't remember how I did it, and that was running XP.

Any ideas? Help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can, using the restore CDs that came with it.

However, you will lose any data (music, documents, etc) currently on it.

You'd have to back this stuff up onto an external hard drive or CDs/DVDs if you want to keep it.

Time machines if you can find one, saves on the laundry bills as well

Just a normal looking CD that would have come with the laptop. It'll say "restore" or "operating system" or something like that.

That's it

Be sure to back up your internet favorites/bookmarks and stuff like that, too. The disk should erase everything on your laptop. You'll need to reinstall any applications like Yahoo Messenger or iTunes and things like that.

OK thanks

Just one last question - how do I use this disk?

I must sound really stupid. But do I just put it in and restart or what?

Instructions should be on it.

You might be able to just put it in and have it start the process right from Windows.

If not, you put the disc in and boot from the CD and it will go through the restore process.
