Can Gay People be Compared To Black People?

Hi everyone im new to this site and i just wanted to tell you this story and hear your views on the topic:

There was an arugument between a gay group of people and a black group of people. Some of the black group believed that being gay was wrong and happened to say that if their child came out gay they would "beat the s*** out of it" ( this wasn't really said in a serious way but the point is they wouldn't want their child to be gay). So the gay people were obviously disgusted with this and they believed that gay people were born gay. so they said think of it this way would you "beat the s***" out of your child for being black and the black group said what are you talking about and the gay group said well gay people are born gay the same as black people. They cannot help being gay just the same as a black child cannot help but be born black. Well anyone the black people found this really offensive that they were being compared to gay people.

Now in my opinion i have nothing against gay people. Im not gay and cant imagine being gay but i still have nuthin againt them. I dont know if people are born gay and i never will because im not gay. but if its true i think the point they made about gays and blacks is a valid point

what are your opions on this:are you born gay?
is this a fair comparision?

I'm not gay. Notice the way guys are very quick to say that before getting into a discussion on homosexuality.

I can't be sure if it's nature or nuture but I know several gay fellas that everyone around them knew were gay LONG before they themselves realised and came out.

Why on earth would anyone 'cop a hiding'?? Hatred is hatred and there is nothing wrong with talking about it!!

I think on thing is that being black makes you a visible minority while being gay is a bit harder to distinguish.

There is still alot of socially acceptable hatred toward gays...More so than blacks these day. That change has only come around by education. Think of what fat people go through these days. Nobody seems to mind when they get degregated.

No hatred is okay. None. I can't imagine a parent NOT loving their child because they were gay. That is insane, but there are alot of nuts out there!!

I have an exhusband that has 3 gay people in his family and they are very open and honest with me and my questions and they all say that they had crushes on the same sex as early as kindergarden. Most men and woman that live the gay lifestyle do so because they are gay. A small percentage of women do it to impress their BF. I think the point was a valid one. They are a group of people that are discriminated against for being themselves.

I have no problems with anyone being blac, gay or both. Life is hard enough, accept people for what they are and get on with life.

No, I wasn't born gay. If I was, it wouldn't matter. Black people and gays really shouldn't be compared, absolutly no simularities unless the black person was gay as well.
