Bus driver dumps kittens off bus and drives away

This was heard on my local news, but it upset me so much I wanted to talk about it. Whether or not somebody like cats is not my issue, what this man did, is.
Apparently a bus driver had or found kittens on his bus. Instead of taking them to shelter, he opened the back door and dumped them. They were only about 2 months old. A local woman attempted to stop the man, he and the bus took off. She was quick and got the license plate. The man has been arrested for animal cruelty. The kittens are doing well in an animal shelter and will be adoptable in about 3 weeks.
What punishment do you believe someone so callous should receive?
I'd like to make him do community service in an animal shelter until he dies.(Under strict supervision)

The kittens probably belonged to a student on the bus.

We have animal abandonment laws in Texas.

Abandonment of Dogs and Cats (Penal Code 42.09 Animal Cruelty). Class A Misdemeanor with up to $4,000 fine and/or year in jail.

I would have called the police and report it.

He should be fined... and that's all.

Whatever they intentionally do to the animal should be done to them.

Why would that make a difference? That's animal cruelty and endangerment. Those were kittens. Why wouldn't it be the responsibility of someone with a heart to take them to a safe place? The man cared nothing about life. He was jailed so he obviously broke the law.

He wasn't jailed, he was "arrested" and given "3 citations".

He wasn't convicted of anything.

Yes, he shouldn't have "tossed" the kittens, but they weren't hurt.

There was my answer. Exactly what they did to the animal.

The animals are safe now because someone saw him ditching the kittens. If she hadn't seen that, they likely wouldn't have been ok. The intent of the bus driver was not good.

We could give him a douchebag award and shave him a hawkmow.
