It is possible to enjoy low rated movies. I use rotten tomatoes and IMDB.

What's frustrating me is when critics and movie-goer reviewers inflate the film (my guess) because it's a "cause" film or some type of SJW film.

My best low rated film is the 2003 Ang Lee's Hulk. Loved it but it got poor reviews.

In the end, a critical review of a movie boils down to this:

What did that one person think of the movie?

We all know people who have horrible taste and like things we wouldn't enjoy if we were being fed a steady stream of heroine while being fellated as we watched them. People have different tastes and something with high praise from a critic is still really just based on whether or not that critic personally liked something.

Boss Baby got great reviews. I was forced to watch it because my kid wanted to see it. What a piece of s*** movie...

I always use rotten tomatoes and imdb to choices my movies. mainly, the story's plots and the stars in it, that make the decision. this past year, I have enjoyed watching low rating movies, because they are some of them really pretty good, better occasionally the blockbuster movies are high ratings reviews this year.

I lost hope on following critical ratings after trying it for a few years. What a boring chorefest that was.

Viewer/User ratings are much more reliable for me in accurately predicting whether or not I’ll like a movie.

Generally speaking, I will enjoy a movie as long as it has a good, captivating story. It doesn’t need to be filled with visual effects, award winning acting, groundbreaking editing, witty dialogue, constant humor, or anything of that sort. As long as the acting is passably believable and the directing/editing is decent, then just a real good story is usually all it takes for me.

The exception to all the above are Academy winners for Best Picture. For some reason, I usually end up agreeing with the winning selections in terms of enjoying the movie.

Sometimes a movie is good (entertaining) because it's bad.
Take it at face value and enjoy the nonsense.

Some of these action/superhero movies just seem like a set up for a video game.
Others seem to be just a showcase for new FX.

Has the comic book superhero fad run it's course yet?

I thought this thread was about Breast Feeding Formulas for Highly Rated Movies...

It made me glad I'm not a "B" rated movie actor with a child needing to be fed between takes....

Nope - not my genre.

But I've seen the occasional indie film and enjoyed it for what it's worth.

Not too different from going to see a local band. No it's not Genesis, but that's not what you're expecting.

BTW - Google says The Room is playing nearby on Dec 8th

Dude, I’d totally go to s special showing of The Room. It’s got to be fun like rocky horror, without the lingerie.

You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!

I was about to get upset because I thought you were referring to Room , which was a phenomenal movie with a stunning performance by a very young Jacob Tremblay based on an equally phenomenal book.

Not THE room, which you did refer to, commonly called the Citizen Kane of bad movies.

Yucko.
