" The Illinois State Senate Thursday convicted Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich on a sprawling article of impeachment that charged him with abusing his power. The vote prompted the governor?s immediate and permanent ouster and ended nearly two months of political spectacle in which he sought unsuccessfully to salvage his reputation and career here and across the country."

I hate to be the devil's advocate here, but i think the decision was totally unfair.

he deserved a trial in which he could defend himself, at least. unless he's not being prosecutred, idk.

whatever the case, it seemed to me like everyone ganged up on him with insufficient proof. i mean, it sure sounded like he was guilty but that could have been a matter of opinion.

"The senate seat is f*cking golden. I'm not going to just give it away for nothing."

Of course, to most of us it is obvious that he's trying to sell it, but he could argue that he meant it was a valuable thing because the illinoisian peoples' voices are an important thing to represent in the senate and he wouldn't give it to just anyone who wasn't qualified enough for it. That, of course, is most probably untrue, but my point is that he deserved a chance to at least say it.

The criminal trial will come later.

He did some 'closing argument' to the illinois senate today, and he didn't spend his time saying the allegations were untrue. He didn't spend his time defending himself against them. He rambled on and on about the good things he had done.

An impeachment is just an indictment.

Yeah, I know. But he still should have had the chance to defend himself IMO...

He was given that chance. Rather than take it, and answer the questions that they had put before him, he chose to give another speech.

The guy is a nutcase loser.

Hmm.. Maybe being a republican is reason enough... so let's kick all the republicans out of the senate.

but he'll already have been indicted, and he's been banned from practicing politics for life. kind of harsh for a man without a trial...
