There's a species of monkey that uses sex as a social 'glue' of sorts. Basically, when there are social problems among the monkeys, they have a huge orgy and everyone is happy again.

Are you aware of any bizarre animal behavior you want to tell us about?

Not quite as bizarre but, I once saw on tv, a 4 year old fall into a guerilla enclosure. The alpha silverback went and picked the kid up and protected him from the other guerillas. generaly comforting the kid.

I think I put a post on here somewhere of three lions rescuing an 8 year old girl and not harming her in the slightest bit? I'll try to find it...

My psychology teacher told us one story about how he was at the zoo once with his kids and he passed a group of monkeys or gorillas or one of those types of animals "doing it". He saw a couple of girls and said that one had to have been on their periods. Apparently these animals can detect that smell and they become sexually aroused because of it.

I remember reading story about a Border Collie that saved its owners life, The woman had a mole on her leg for years and her dog would repeatedly lick or smell it.
One day the dog tried to bite the mole off. This made the lady so concerned, that she went and saw her doctor. She was refferred to a clinic where they carried out some tests and found that the mole was malignant melanoma ? an aggressive skin cancer.
Apparently the dogs can smell, whatever it is that make up the cancerous cells.

Bearded Dragons will wave an arm around in a circle sometimes, for absolutely no purpose at all.
