Yup.

www.vitalcheck.com

You have to pay a few bucks, but you'll get a replacement certificate. Easy as pie.

Photocopies generally work, but probably won't work for getting a passport and that kinda thing.

If you are local to your department of vital records, and don't mind spending the better part of a day there, they can do it cheaper than vitalcheck.

I wouldn't bother with the hospital. They can only provide you with a photocopy, if that. They can't give you an official copy.

Yeah, I just wrote to the office of vital statistics where I was born and for a nominal fee and a copy of my drivers license with a few other facts about my birth and I got a new one in the mail. Easy.

If you go to the county hospital where you were born, they'll print you a certificate. Sometimes it's county hospital, sometimes it's the actual hospital. It's kind of a pain in the butt, but I was lucky because my hospital was a fairly large one that had online applications. I wish getting my SS replacement card was as easy.

Yeah, but sometimes they'll just give you a souvinir certificate. If you want an official one, go with the office of vital statistics.
