i was assigned an interview project, with a controversial topic of my chosing. I chose to do Abortion, however that topic was too broad so with my professor narrowed it down to these. My mission is to find out what people think. so please leave your oppinions in detail and why you feel this way.
Question1: "At what point does an embryo become a person/too late to abort, and why?"in detail
so answer this then the below question
Question2: "Why do you consider this the cut off point, what about before your chosen answer/why not before?"

Lookin for long, and thoughtfull posts please.

Please leave as much insight and personal feelings/thoughts as you can. thanks again!

Ahhhh good question, I mean you could go look up the legal terms.

26 weeks is viable, i think maybe a bit lower than this. Maybe about 16 weeks.

usually about the time when the featus has been out of the womb for about 25 years and has gotten an approved job in an approved sector of society.

Some featuses are never converted to the status of "person", we have other names for them. such as "terrorist", or "them", or "they", or "freak", and so on. Heretic used to be pobular, not so much in the wind of lately.

anyways.
I guess I'm off topic.

You only find out what gender the baby is at 12 weeks and there fore once it has a gender assigned to the foetus it is considered a person yes?

Hes after an opinion not fact.

I mean this could spark the whole: does a baby have a soul and at what stage does it get one?

treebee: your right, but i meant it as though that is when i think a foetus should be considered as a person when a baby has its gender assigned to it

For me a featus is a convenient word used by those in favour of abortion to try and persuade people that the human life that has been started at the point of conception is somehow different to a later stage in the development of that child.

I'm not speaking from any religious stance on this matter as I have heard of some aweful practices within my church regarding the burial of children that were still born.

For me the point of conception is the start of life.
Life is precious.

Personally i think it's when it comes out, otherwise it can't feel anything.
But according to others who believe in the Sanctity of Life life begins when the sperm meets the egg.

There was a great program on a few nights ago showing how a child develops and its amazing HOW much the baby does hear, feel and sense from a very early stage in it's growth.

Does a person with retrograde amnesia remember what happened last week?

No, they don't. That doesn't make their lives expendable.

The existence of memory is not a defining characteristic of a human being.

Good point, but if you have an elderly relative with severe demetia are they really the person they was? No of course not!!! DO you kill them? NO of course not!!!

We are human after all, part of humanity is an altruistic nature. We will care for those unable to think for themselves or able to care for themselves (in theory)

I did not say at any point that life was expendable. I was pointing out that we have no memory of being in the womb. When a baby is born it survives merely from reflex.

I was raising the point, when does a child/foetus become a PERSON!!
