Is it as soon as it's conceived? Is it when it begins to practice reflexes? Is it once it is inderpendant of it's mother? When do you think?

Legal limit of abortion is just a day under 24 weeks. OK that is ver half way through the pregnancy and personally i dont agree with it unless the child has no chance of survival outside the womb. I mean like a massive hole in the heart and the lungs being on the outside and one eye and half the brain missing and s***.

In my opinion 16 weeks is when it stops being cells and starts to be human.

Until the child is born it is not a person.

I'm not just talking about abortions though. Talking about PGD and IVF. The embryos which aren't used are destroyed, and some people believe this is murder-but I don't think they are human yet. More prehuman..but then, when exactly DO you become human?

nope imo not murder, they are frozen at a stage where implantation would still be feasable, if they were more than cells they would not implant in the womb.

the science of it all needs to be taught in schools, every thing i know about it is fromt he media... and from my understanding is that they are just a bunch of cells spliting to form a fetus?

At what point in the development of a butterfly is it a butterfly is a very similar question. There are many stages in that progression from conception to the point it can be easily identified as a butterfly. But I would believe that this beautiful creature is always a butterfly having been conceived by the sexual interaction of two butterflies, growing through a very different clearly stages into a colourful flying piece of nature.

I believe a child is a human at the point of it's conception.

i had a scan at 10 weeks pregnant and it was almost fully formed with arms legs and the heatbeat was present, granted it was the size of a pea but it was almost fully developed into the recognisable shape of a baby, the nhs wont abort after 12 weeks without good reason and i think at the time it was 13 weeks for a private clinic, i think that no matter what ur opinion is you shouldnt judge a person who chooses to abort im sure its not a situation anyone would deliberatly get themselves into...my pea sized scan is now a 5 yr old boy btw

The sex of the baby is un-determined until 12weeks, and therefore once its gender is determined It should be human! My personal opinion is that you shoulodnt judge someone if they are to have an abortion as they may have exceptional circumstances which requirw this option. 12 weeks

Yes, but I said I didn't mean abortion, I meant PGD and IVF, where the sex of the baby can be selected (to prevent genderspecific genetic diseases) before it is even implanted in the womb.

I'd have to say that the child isn't a child until its born and i am I totally agree with for abortion for all sorts of reasons and its your body so what you do with your body is your business no one elses. 8)
