i have a 14yr old daughter, dont get me wrong she is a lovely girl, thought lazy(think that goes with the trait of being a teenager)...shes not a trouble maker, she doesnt hang out on streets, in fact shes a bit of a hermit like her mum!

im just finding it harder to adjust to her growing...i feel nostalgic all the time , and wonder where that little girl went?...i want to obviously do the best by her, but im started to feel afraid of the future, when people remind me she will be "16" in 2 years.
I have full faith in her that she wont make the mistakes that i did...but any advice on how to get over this hurdle of letting go to the baby and welcoming the adult shes becoming??

my sons 18 soon,i,m afraid you sort of lose them, its hard not knowing whats going on in their world, when you,ve known everyting before, but maybe being a girl it might be different, she will make mistakes, but all you can do is be there, god i,m full of mush tonight

Isn't it better to take care of a grown up than a teenager?

I don't really know if there's an easy way to get over it. Its just one of those things where you gotta suck it up and live with it. everyone has to grow up eventually. It's best to just come to terms with that, accept it, do your best, and let her know you're always there for her. no matter what.

yes they do.....instead of conversation like....my house my rules...

you get to talk about how the world works and the reason why you had all the rules.

It does'nt get any easier from here . You're about a fourth of the way up a steep climb at the moment. I don't know the ages of things there but in the U.S. they get their learners permit at 15 , drivers license at sixteen , alot of them graduate at 17 then adulthood hits.

My youngest daugther just left for college on Friday . I'm still a wreck. She just turned 17 and now she's off to make something of herself. My oldest daughter is married and a mother of two , she's almost 20 and it has'nt gotten any easier for me. I have to constantly remnd myself that she is grown , she's a wife and a mother and that I need to let her figure somethings out for herself.

Good luck though!

Driving was a big thing for me with my girls. I was scared to death. It did'nt help that we lived in the Mountains at the time in a tourist town and the tourist drove on the wrong friggin side of the road because they could'nt hold the curves . At any rate they both learned quickly and somehow I got through it. I still worry about them when they are on the road though. I guess it's just a part of being a mother , we never stop being over protective of our children. Before my mother died she'd be on pins and needles when she know we were on a trip or something. I'd have to call her as soon as we made it to our destination.
