In his last book 'Sex and Human Loving' Dr. Burne suggested that we tend to think of others in terms of sphincters, c***s are nasty females, a*****es are excrementitiously disposed but not gender specific, and d***s are nasty males. He died before finishing the book so we will never know why he beleive it to be true. I suppose if you think of yourself as a c*** you are doing so in a positive way and if you think another presson is a c*** you are doing so in a pejorative way; and some people believe that any the use of the word is rude and offence. Of course when a person who uses what Orwell called unwords all the time it becomes no more that an unpleasent sound, but a person who has never, in your experience, used an unword uses it, you will probably sit up and listen.
