Some apples are worth the price. Macintosh's and granny smith definitely. Stay away from the Red Delicious apples though. The price they want for that is just bulls***.

I don't know if they're better for that or not. My wife's a graphic designer and she had an apple laptop, and pretty soon after she got it the power connector got messed up and apple basically told her it's her problem that their laptop wasn't sturdy enough to handle day to day wear and tear. The CD drive also had this habit of eating CDs and there's no way to get them out easily.

She's got a Sony Vaio now that's works pretty well for designing stuff.

as i said man, i just take their word for it.

when you look at specs and comparative prices though, macs are a complete rip off.

You pay extra for the sleek design and to have people think you're cool.

It's not just sleek design, although that is a large part of it. Find me a PC laptop with equivalent size, thickness, weight, battery life, and specs as a 15" Macbook Pro (14.3x9.8, 0.95", 5.6 lbs, 2 GHz i7, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 6590M, and 7 hours of real battery life) for the same price ($1799). I'm not sure there are any.

The Toshiba you mentioned is 50% thicker, 50% heavier, an inch longer, an inch wider, and has less than half the battery life. And it's only $100 cheaper.

So prove it. Show me a PC laptop with equivalent specs to the 15" Macbook for significantly cheaper.

Haha.

You don't need to prove it, you just know.

The problem is that someone goes to look at an Apple laptop and sees a $1000+ price tag. Then they look at PC laptops and they're cheap as s***. They instantly assume that the Apple laptops are super overpriced and you're paying for the cache and maybe aesthetics.

That's just not really true. Apple's products are for the most part actually competitively priced. iPhones cost the same as high-end Android phones (and sometimes less). iPods cost the same as equivalent players (Zune etc). Macbooks are decidedly high-end machines and are priced equivalently with similar laptops from other manufacturers that have similar technical and physical specs.

Apple just doesn't compete in the low end of the market.

whatever gets you through the night man.

i'm not overly fussed about who built my computer.

if i saw an apple that was as good as my laptop, for the same price, i would maybe have bought it.

Like I said, Apple doesn't compete in the low end of the market. If you were shopping for an $1200+ laptop you would be crazy to cross Apple off your list.

This has nothing to do with whether I like Macs or not. It's about facts, and the facts are that for their specifications Apple laptops are in fact competitively priced.

The $1049 Vaio is 15.7" wide, 1.7" thick, 10.7" deep (compared with 14.3x9.8x0.95" ) and weighs over a pound more with the standard battery, which gives under 5 hours of battery life.

The $1800 one has about the same size, weight, specs, and dimensions as the 13" Macbook Pro - except the Macbook pro is $300 cheaper.

13" Macbook pro:
12.78 x 8.94 x .95
4.5 lbs
7 hour battery
2.7 GHz i7
4GB RAM
128 GB SSD
$1699

13" Vaio S:
13.04 x 8.84 x 0.95
3.6 lbs
7.5 hour battery
2.7 GHz i7
4GB RAM
128 GB SSD
$1799

You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. You are not arguing an opinion. You are saying that Mac laptops are more expensive than equivalent notebooks.

You have provided no information whatsoever to back this up. I have provided data to the contrary. It is now up to you to back up your claims.

It's a bigger screen. I couldn't find a Vaio with the same screen size.

It's not a SSD drive.
