Went to the apple store today and saw the little apple tv thing. There was hardly any explanation of what it actually is, so I was wondering, wtf is it?

Is it just to download s***? Or does it work like verizon fios, or time warner cable, or do you need a provider and pay for apple tv?

IM SO CONFUSED!

Thanks! Do you know anyone who has it? It seems kinda limited for $300 or whatever it is.
