I heard this today on a really good radio show called "A World of Possibilities."

"Experience has shown that the best single investment, if you're trying to eradicate poverty, is to educate girls because when they become women and mothers they make the wisest use of whatever wealth is generated from their efforts."

They were referring specifically to developing nations.

Some women will still spend money unwisely though, just like some men will spend it wisely.

Whatever happened to the stereotype of the shopping woman, who spends all of her husband's money?

Could it be that the resource of half the population in too many third world countries is wasted by cultural beliefs that treat women as at best second class citizens.

Simply by treating everyone equally and educating all our people the world becomes a better place by fully utilising these precious resources.

Then you can be sure that your wife brings you the correct beer when you text her mobile asking her to bring you up a beer.

Well, my American History class was discussing freedom the other day, and the teacher made a good point by saying that perhaps America wasn't free until 1920 because women, 50% of the population, couldn't vote until then.

It's something, but I'm not sure "resourceful" is the word for it . . . "determined"?
