It is awful and it's not just the kids who are afraid the teachers are, too. One year I had a student who was addicted to crack. Everyday after lunch, he'd come in and crawl under a table. He was a foot taller than I and stoned, was I going to move him? When asking for help, I got the ole' he's your responsibility. I had him and tried to get him help for 3 years.this is why it happens, no one listens. I was at the end of my rope because I really cared about this young man, who was brilliant when he wasn't stoned. Point, I got caught in the middle of a drug induced psychotic break, he aimed at someone else, but I was shot, he finally got help, and I never went back to school again. They had three years, and this was how it ended. I'll never understand why problems are addressed after the worst possible scenario happens. Don't blame your country, this has become a universal problem. I'm an advocate for drug rehabilitation now, and only by getting involved will anything change. It's too sad for words.
