Yes.

They waive the $15 administrative fee, making it $15 cheaper than any other custom plate.

Oh well.

and herein lies the tunnel vision of fundies, if the situation benefits them specifically then its all well and good, yet if the situation, in this case license plates, were made available for all religions, you would here an outcry.

Kinda like whiny atheists that get their panties in a bunch because they see the word "God."

When the facts are against you, attack your opponent. Not that it matters to you, but I'm not an athiest, and neither are the vast majority of members and officials in the ACLU.

You know, you don't have to side against the ACLU *just because it's the ACLU*.

The ACLU is out there fighting for your right to freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and freedom of religious worship.

The ACLU is anti-Christian. Ever hear of a lawsuit they brought against muslims?

The ACLU is absolutely not anti-Christian. I think you will find that many, many members of the ACLU are Christian.

The ACLU is vehemently against the government promoting Christianity.

No, I've never heard of a lawsuit they've brought against the government over promotion of Islam.

But.. then again, I've never seen a license plate or dollar bill that says "In Allah We Trust" and I've never seen quotes from the Koran in a courthouse.

[edited to change God to Allah. That's what I get for paying attention]

The ACLU has defended, in court:

The KKK
The Westboro Baptist Church (the "Thank God for 9/11" and "God Hates Fags" funeral picketers)
Oliver North
NAMBLA

Pretty weird for an anti-Christian organization to, uh, spend a lot of money and effort defending the rights of.... er.... Christian Fundamentalists, eh?

Where do you get your information?

They have no problem with the koran being taught in the schools in california or University of North Carolina students being forced to read the koran. I guess someone choosing to buy a license plate is different.....

They defended racists, nut cases and pedophiles. Give them some credit now!

BTW, I have no idea who Oliver North is or I'd comment on him too.

The point is that they defend everyone whose civil rights are being violated, whether they're Muslim, racists, or Christians.

The Koran thing? Mostly urban legend.

No wonder the ACLU didn't get involved.

Do you think their reaction would have been different if it was Christianity instead of Islam being taught in the same manner?

Rhode Island ACLU (2006) filed an appeal in federal court on behalf of an inmate who was barred from preaching during Christian religious services, something he had done for the past seven years under the supervision and support of prison clergy. The prisoner, Wesley Spratt, believes his preaching is a calling from God. Prison officials cited vague and unsubstantiated security reasons for imposing the preaching ban on Mr. Spratt. The ACLU argued that the ban violates Mr. Spratt's religious freedoms guaranteed to prisoners under federal law.

The ACLU of Nevada (2005) defended the free exercise rights and free speech rights of evangelical Christians to preach on the sidewalks of the Strip in Las Vegas.

he ACLU of New Mexico (2005) joined forces with the American Family Association to succeed in freeing a preacher, Shawn Miller, from the Roosevelt County jail, where he was held for 109 days for street preaching. The ACLU became involved at the request of Miller's wife, Theresa.

The ACLU of Louisiana (2005) filed suit against the Department of Corrections on behalf of a Mormon inmate, Norman Sanders, who was denied the right to practice his religion by being denied access to religious texts, including The Book of Mormon, and Mormon religious services. "Mormons should receive the same accommodation of their beliefs as do individuals of other faiths," said Joe Cook, Executive Director, ACLU of Louisiana. "Fair and equal treatment means they deserve the right to a place to meet, have a minister and discuss their beliefs like other groups."

The ACLU of Pennsylvania (2005) won a battle against Turtle Creek Borough that repeatedly denied an occupancy permit to a predominantly African-American church, Ekklesia, which had purchased the church building from a predominantly white parish. The case is Ekklesia Church v. Borough of Turtle Creek. The case was settled.

The ACLU of Oregon (2004-05) filed suit on behalf of high school basketball players from an Adventist school against the Oregon School Activities Association, which administers competitive athletic and artistic competitions in Oregon high schools. The ACLU argued that the Adventist basketball players who have made it to the state tournament should not be required to play tournament games on Saturday, their Sabbath. The case, argued in Oregon courts, is Nakashima v. Board Of Education.

The ACLU of Virginia (2004) interceded with local authorities on behalf of Baptist preachers who were refused permission to perform baptisms in the river in Falmouth Waterside Park in Stafford County.

Awesome, Strat. Good job.

So much for the ACLU being anti-Christian. I hope that answers your concerns, Raditz.

*sigh*

I really want to know why you believe that.

These people defend the Constitution with all of the means at their disposal. They truly, truly believe in personal freedom. Why do you think they're nuts?
