right so in my comp, i got a Amd Semperon 2300+ which runs at 1583mhz
and i read that the "2300+" was the equivalent intel celeron D processor, so does this mean that the intel celeron d runs at 2300mhz and then does that mean that my 1583mhz processor is as good as an 2300mhz processor or what?? im sorta confussed about this?? anybody know??

AMD 2300 runs at 1583mhz

If a Celeron D is just as Good as it, then the Celeron is an equilivent of a 2300!

AMD do their clocking numbers is a really screwed way, be a man, use an Intel

They have higer numbers, because their processors run better, the equilivence thing should make it clear.

and a 2300 is really old isnt it?

depends on the FSB, however currently AMD has the fastest at 1GHZ FSB

so...

Which one is better?
These two companies have been fighting it out for many years. Let me tell u, AMD's are very smart. The manufacturers always come up with new stuff. But after they bring up something new, Intel waits, they let AMD deal it, and then Intel just comes up with something that blows the AMD away...
AMD may have the crown for awhile, then Intel steals it, and it goes back and forth. AMD is usually cheaper, but they had a history of relatively unstable CPUs. This has improved significantly in the past couple of years, and I now consider Intel and AMD to be equally stable. Which do I recommend? It's really up to you. If you want to save a little, get AMD now. If you want the absolute best performance, go for Intel's fastest.

When it comes to absolute power, performance, speed, quality, control... then there is only one manufacturer, and thats Intel... yes, its true.
Amd have extreamly nice cpu's, with very nice options. (for example the Amd Athlon 64FX is a extraordianry cpu). They are excellent for editing pictures, movies, music, recording music, playing games, and so on...
But, like said, when it comes to pure performance, Intel blows AMD away. But also true, compared to Amd's, Intels are very expensive. But thats because u get the extra performance/quality for the extra money, compared to Amd...

There's always going to be pros and cons about each manufature so saying one is better than the other simply isn't true, they're both good. It all depends on what you want out of a cpu. I use Intel and I've never had any problems. I will get around to trying a AMD soon..

I'm pretty sure Intel has gotten to 1ghz FSB....
