Well he is doing somthing by encourageing others to take action using whatever influence he has. Not to mention he partnered with gay billionair richard branson to creat that contest and spread the word about it. The contest is for somone to creat somthing that can suck 1 billion tons of CO2 a year. the contest ends in 2010 and the prize is 25 mill.
Other then that yes im doing good by planting trees. As most people know trees "eat" carbon dioxide and creat clean air. One of the reasons the CO2 is rising is all the rainforest we cut down in the industrial revolution. Also I dont have a yard I live in an appartment.

As far as the sun spots yes this could be contributing but we know very little about the cycles of the sun and know much more about how we effect our enviroment so untill we know alot more which will take alot of time we have to act to do somthing about it now. As is scientists are saying that sun cycles are a long term change and don't support the decade-century changes that have happened.

With the lawn cutting, I was just trying to give an example of what planting one tree would accomplish.

I believe this has been a discussion among the interantional community for many years before 'Ol Al Gore decided to b**** about it. SO.................Still don't see him contributing much.

Yah I took no offence to that. Lol just saying I have no lawn. Actually I wish I did. Hard to have a barbecue inside lol. Nothing I love more then a weed and beer barbecue.

I think he has, he has brought it more into the mainstream...really demonstrated the situation with understandable facts, information and pictures. I think his documentary and his lectures are very valuable.

I would agree with you if I didn't have to sit through years of forced environmental bulls*** on earthday every year while going to school. One more voice among the millions, showing the same information that has been preached for years is not valuable. Its redundant.

There's a difference between high school and the real world. This was a documentary that adults willingly went to. When a person is voluntarily in a place to learn something, they are more receptive to what is being shown. As a result, it has more impact and more effect.

Still. Its all the same rhetoric that I have heard, not just form school but many, many different people over the years. I haven't heard him say anything new or anything to change my mind.

I don't think he deserves the acclaim he has gotten for his documetry.

I think he should have gotten more recognition for finding man-bear-pig

He's not doing anything? You're right, he's just bringing international awareness to the problem, but I suppose you can do better? Do it, I'd like to see that.

He b****es about it and gets paid to do it. Go Gore!

there's a difference between "b****ing" and "informing"

b****ing is where all you do is whine, and don't do anything. Informing people is an active form of trying to make a difference.

Yep. That's why he is b****ing.....Or at least that is what the story at the beginning of the thread was about.

And I guess he is trying to make a difference.

A difference in his bank account.

all profits are donated to organizations and charities that help combat global warming and pollution. He doesn't and hasn't made any money from any of it.

And Al Gore is doing something but whine? If he was doing something other than try to tell people to use less energy maybe he could make a difference. After all, he is using 20 times more energy than anyone else.
