There is a stage when the faetus becomes a life in it's own right.

It is the womens body, it is the womens choice. I don't think men should have any sort of right to make a decision on it, they may be consulted of their opinions, but it is the womans right.

Not going to one side or the other but has anyone considered that women who want abortions will get them, whether it's legal or not. It's much safer for the woman in question if the proceedure is done in a hospital or a clinic rather than in a back alley by a random man with a knife.

I was discussing the issue of backstreet abortions with someone who was "pro-life" once. He said, in all honesty, that if a woman did something as bad as an abortion she deserved to go through that.

Was quite a sickening argument. It was on a christian website, wasn't long before I got banned from it!

When is that, exactly?

Depends on who you ask. I say it is when they have a brain, since the brain is who we are.

I'm personally unsure.

I don't really know enough about the development of a faetus to have an educated opinion on it. I went for 30 weeks in the survay just because someone else had previously put all the answers I had put, and said 30 weeks. Though whith the little knowledge I have, I haven't really formulated an opinion on it yet.

However, If there is a potential health problem for the mother, then I believe the Abortion allowance time should be longer in such a situation.

I was asking jmo, which I thought was quite obvious.

Just FYI, 30 weeks is pretty far along the development chain. A 30 week old fetus is well past the point of being able to feel pain, has a beating heart, a head almost 30cm in circumference, can move their eyes, they have toenails, bone marrow is producing red blood cells, etc. An average 30 week old fetus is 40 cm long and weighs almost 3 pounds.

While I don't want to stop all commentary on people's results, at the same time I don't want this to become just another abortion debate thread, so let's try to keep treading that line. We'll try to keep this as unemotional as possible, a way to very clearly and concisely state your views on the matter.

i cant understand how they would NOT have a reason. even if they dont want to admit it, there will always be a reason

That's why I worded it "no stated reason".
