A 9 percent flat personal income tax, a 9 percent sales tax and a 9 percent corporate income tax. I like it. Saves the hard working people in this country some money. Makes EVERYONE EQUAL.

No! I mean really! Let's keep our heads in reality!

"The 9-9-9 plan eliminates the payroll tax and estate tax, which brought in a combined $883 billion in 2010, or about 41 percent of the $2.16 trillion collected by the federal government last year. Cain’s proposal also wipes out taxes on capital gains and repatriated corporate profits."

I ask a few regulars at the bar about this new tax plan. Most laughed and said "A black Republican President", I don't see him getting any votes around here

Right now, it seems to be just a nice catch phrase to win election support. But I am wary of such slogans and would like to dig further before committing to it. For instance, is there still a standard deduction for the poor, in regards to the income tax, and a similar rebate for the sales tax? Also, would there be terms outlawing a raise of any of those 9's, so we don't end up stuck with paying THREE forms of taxes at raised rates down the road?

Regardless, I am not a fan of Cain for other reasons.

There was a 9-9-9 deal? Where have I been? It doesn't sound like a good idea though.

It gets rid of the tax on the wealthiest americans, those that inherit - pretty much a consumption tax. We all know that the poor & middle class spend most of their money on consumption. This is class warfare- a further give back to the wealthiest.

Which is why I asked about the deduction and rebate. If it doesn't have those, then I agree with your statement.

I guess it's a great plan if you love huge deficits, or love huge austerity measures that will certainly cause a recession and definitely piss off a lot of people.
