So, seems 90% of American Indians are too busy living productive lives to b**** endlessly about what a football team is called.
Of course, there's been much commentary since the poll came out as to why the poll shouldn't count. Everybody loves democracy until the majority of people disagree with them.
That's just it you see the numbers don't work , it's not the majority of Native Americans disagreeing with those fighting to get the sports teams to change their names.
Native Americans are less than 1% of the population, so to randomly have gotten 509 native Americans, the Social Science Research Solutions would have had to randomly poll over 50,000 people . That would be a huge sampling of people , wouldn't you say . Don't the companies doing these survey's usually call around 1500 people ?
Not to mention that the reporter in the interview cited in the OP says that the question of supporting the teams names ,was not something that the poll asked .
How the survey was conducted
The survey was conducted in conjunction with weekly national surveys of U.S. adults reached through a random sample of cellular and landline telephones conducted by Social Science Research Solutions of Media, Pa. Toward the end of a survey on a range of topics, respondents who identified their race as Native American were asked a series of questions on views of the Redskins team name and Native American imagery in sports.
