@cobber Said
As I said, they learn the real names. They also learn to respect their body.

They are going to be taught it at school anyway both in class and with their mates. Might as well do it honestly in the first place.

guess you're right about that.

He has also asked me how did I get into your belly when I was a baby. I said that I prayed for a little boy called Nicholas,and thats how you got into my belly.
I mean I couldn't tell the truth about that now can ?

IMO

I'd say tell him the truth, its the most natural thing in the world. I would say tell him the real names, and tell him the truth. He is going to hear it either in school or some other place soon (if not alread) anyways. He may as well hear the truth from someone he trusts. I am not a parent or anythign, and honestly I am not sure if I had a kid what I would say to him/her but just of the top of my head I would say the truth is usually the best way to go.

There are books and videos for young children on explaining such things.

Nothing wrong with explaining that sex does it. You don't have to go into great detail but the basic gist of it.

Just go to your local health centre or so and see what information and/or help they have there. Do this first.

Age is in the heart and mind. The fact that he is only 7 woulnd't really make a difference if he is more mature then his age. (A lot of young kids seem to be these days). Its all a matter of maturity, if you think he is mature enough tot deal with it, and mature enough to use the subject with discretion I would say sure tell him.

Good and bad sides to telling him I suppose. Good in that he will have heard the truth from someone he trusts and may be more willing to talk to you later about such things. Bad in that it may get him in trouble in school or with friends if he knows the truth and they dont.

I surely dont envy you, must be hard to try and figure out when to tell a kid stuff like that.

I remember asking my mom that question, of how I was made, and she said it happened when she and my dad her hugging eachother and that's how it hapened. I became very concerned that I shouldn't get too close or accidentally touch any boys at school! I was rather confused, and asked her why there weren't a whole bunch of babies al over the place, because surely peope don't get pregnant every time they hug?? But that was all she'd go into it, and so I was rather confused. In retrospect, I feel I would have understood the truth better, and no I don't think it would have scarred me for life or anything. I probably would have laughed and been like, "eewww!" but it would have but my mind at ease I think, as compared to the confusion that resulted from the answer I was given. The truth is just more logical and natural.

I learned about "sex" when I was 7 and I awoke from a bad dream walked into my mum and dads room and they were at it! I felt sick! I couln't look at them for weeks.

Being told about something, and personally witnessing it are two completely different experiences. Is that the reason you are hesitant to talk to your kid about sex?
