I work in a nursing home for Aboriginals, and most of the female residents absolutely refuse to be attended by male workers. There is even a "No Males" sign on their bedroom doors Many of these women have endured all kinds of abuse from their husbands, fathers, grandfathers, etc. It's very sad and distressing. Violence and sexual abuse in Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory has been going on for a very long time; however, it's not until only recently that the NT Government has finally decided to really step up to the plate and seriously tackle this serious and escalating problem.

the australian police already have too many rights as is. They can come into your house search it, hassle you, pull crap out everywhere and basically intrude on your privacy, just on the suspicion of drugs etc. And they don't even have to give you a reason. They can pull you over and search your entire car and person, mobile phone etc. Now the government, with the upcoming elections are giving police all these new rights (while stripping people of theirs) in a effort to help the aboriginal community, to make it look like they actually done something. It's complete bull.

The Northern Territory Government refuses to do anything but sweep it under the carpet, denying that this is happening and labelling any person who says otherwise, a racist.
