Very true. I'll probably stick with Henna for a while. It's cheaper the inked I eventually do want a inked on though. Probably I'll only ever get one, but I want to express myself in another form, something to say here I am, deal with it.

That is cool, go with what you think will make you happy. A permenant tattoo is a big step and you have to live with it for the rest of your life unless you can afford to get it removed. 8)

I guess I don't see a henna tattoo as being much of a practice run for a real tattoo.

If you're going to regret a tattoo, it's not necessarily going to be in the first month, year or even decade. It's going to be when you are 40, 50, or 60 when it looks ridiculous on aged skin, and the pattern is totally out of fashion.

When I see 40 or 50 year old women in the supermarket with tatoos, I always think it makes them look incredibly trashy.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I just can't reconcile the two concepts of "fashionable" and "permanent". I see lasers in your future.

oh god your such a spoiled sport and old fashion, your not with the times lol. its your opinion that you dont like them but the millions of people that have them DO!!! bloody hell

Ummm, yeah, it's my opinion, and I shall voice it. Other people can do whatever the hell they want to, but if you post on a diverse forum site, you sure as hell better be ready to hear diverse opinions.

As for "behind the times" you are aware that people have decorating their bodies in this way for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, right?

Hi all,
I have lots of tattoos and I love them all. My advise is make sure you research the tattooist and see his/her work. It could mean the difference between a amazing tat you are proud of or a crap one that makes you cry everytime you look at it. I have had to get a couple of mine redone and have learnt from experience. It's your body, it's perminant and worth the effort. If the tat artist doesn't like you asking to see their work then they have something to hide and go elsewhere.

Im not sure if it was me but I will take parital credit on that. I think getting a "semi" is a good idea but only regarding placment and style. Stumblin is right...years from now is when you might think differently.

Its great you have thought about style, placement, and size. Be proud of what you put on your body.....even if it will look silly when youre 80. It will carry a lot of life with it.

I decided by saying okay I want this, I love this. And get it done. It's a tattoo not the end of my life.

i think tattoos should really mean something to you..there's no point getting ink'd if it's just a cutesy drawing or your 'fave band of the moment'. remember it's permenant!

BUT! (big but) this is 2006....in 20, 30 years time i'll bet you any money that tattoo laser removal is easily avaiable and pretty cheap

so, it's good all round!

good luck with your tatt if you do go ahead with it for real!
