The children laughed
The children played
All was good until that day
The rats were bad the rats were evil
Dancing children dancing feet
all became so
terrified
Until that tragic day
The bergers knew not what they should
do
The mice the rats they did knaw and chew
The dogs were scared the cats knew not what to do

But then a stranger arrived in town
he surveyed the streets up and down
he surveyed the bridge and the river to
he was there and knew just what to do
But the greedy council and the bergers
Wasnted a penny to save
Their greed out weighed they're angst
But the solutioon was there
The solution was clear
to his lips he raised the pipe
And sweet music did appear
Down the road
down the lane The piper kled the way
Following him went the mice and the rats
With a wicked evil sway
Splash and splosh into the river the
flayed
drowned ever one of them
All bar one just to fat
and he was delayed
The arguements came thick and fast
But the council did not pay
"So said the piper
you will rue this day

And so later the next morning
When the children came to play
There stood the piper
Thin and wirey
dressed in Yellow and red
with hair the colour of Hay

So into the air rose the sickly sweet tune
Then came the children dancing and prancing
But they were not there to play
Across the field
and down the path
This was the pipers revenge
This was his wrath
And so to stone mountain they came
And the twirling tune
It do so soon open the mountains mouth
In a twinkling then
The children were all gone
All but one who was so lame
He could not keep in step
and his friends they had gone away
So to this day the story is told
And to this day
No child so bold
or bright
Can be seen by morning or night
In the tiny Brunswick town
of Hamlin by name

The above terrible verse is dedicated to the Pied Piper of Hamlin who entered the tiny Brunswick town of Hamlin on the 28th June 1287
So it is an anniversary poem i guess.
My up coming book features a kid called Nicholas who started the German sector of the Childrens crusade and he as an olde man is thought to be the Pied Piper

Well done, I enjoyed reading it.

Its been a long long time since I've read, listened, heard anything about the pied piper...brings back some memories actually.

Well done.

I don't know anything about the truth behind it, but it is chilling portrayed. I like your style of writing.

Have you ever tired writing poetry that didn't rhyme? I was just wondering.
This is a BAD piece but I can see some room for improvements. I think it's more of just going over it, and fine tuning it. I love the rhythm though. And I do love the story.
