New York Yankees(26-19). 2nd Place in AL East.

Despite all of the injuries and turnmoil surrounding the Yankees... they somehow managed to take 2-of-3 from their arch-rivals.

Melky Cabrera provided the offense and saved the Yankees from yet another bitter defeat in a 8-6 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

Randy Johnson(6-4) allowed 5 runs, 9 hits, 2 walks and had 8 strikeouts in five innings of work.

Manny Ramirez, did not disappoint the Red Sox fans. He smashed two home runs onto the street beyond the left-field seats. His homer in the seventh off Scott Proctor had me on the verge of pulling my hair out.

Cabrera, who batted first in the lineup ignited the Yankees offense by smacking two-run singles in both the second and the fifth. He fnished the night 2-for-4, with 4 RBIs.

Derek Jeter's RBI double in the second puts him one away of becoming the eight player in Yankees history to record 2,000 hits.

A-Rod, Cano, Williams and Long jumped on Matt Clement in the fifth by all ripping singles off of him. Making the score 8-5.

With the score 8-6 in the bottom of the seventh, Kyle Farnsworth miraculously worked his way out of a disastrous inning by getting David Ortiz to strikeout.

Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth-inning for his 10th save of the season.
