sounds like a film. wait it was a film!!!
what im talking about is the nasa mission into discovering the composition of the comet Tempel 1.
you'e probably heard it on the news and went, "thats interesting..." but what you've got remember is this is more than intersting...this is historic. this is material that hasnt been seen for over 4 billion yrs ago at the least.
we're learning more and more about our solar system everyday.
this is gonna bring up some interesting stuff.
enjoy ppl...

If it hasn't been seen in over four billion years, then who saw it to begin with?

And with a name like "Deep Impact," I'm sure there have been a lot of unsatisfied people tuning into the news lately . . . and then quickly switching the channel.

HAHA! good point about the name!
i thought deep impact was an okay film. the ending was a bit s***!

and what i meant about the 4 billion thing is, that when it impacts with the surface the interior material that is ejected will not have been seen since the comet formed over 4 bilion yrs ago.
got to try and explain myself better!

I'm sorry, I still don't get it. Seen by whom? Was it not seen by anything at all? You mean it was hidden?

no...ppl know the comets there. its a short period one i think so it passes the earth pretty regularly. what no one has every seen is the inside of a comet. this will be the first time ever.
is that any better??

Yeah, ok. I think I get it now. I just couldn't understand the deal with the "four million years." Were humans even around back then?

What he's saying is:

This will be the first time humans have ever seen a material that was created over 4 million years ago... the first time we will have ever seen something 4 million years old!
