Peeping at lists of books for sale I put "Delusion" into the Search facility. This was inspired by such titles as "The God Delusion" (Richard Dawkins) and "The Science Delusion" (Rupert Sheldrake) I found that "delusion" seems to be the new buzz word for would be prophets of the new age (or simply of those seeking to make a quick buck from the gullible)

Here is a sample of titles now available (from all good bookshops)

The Christian Delusion
The Atheist Delusion
The Teaching Delusion
The Innovation Delusion
The Management Delusion
The Inclusion Delusion
Freedom, Humanity and Other Delusions
The Grand Delusion
The Disease Delusion
The Self Delusion
The Talent Delusion
The Growth Delusion

So, plenty of delusions out there. I'm thinking of writing "The Delusion Delusion" which will seek to expose delusions for exactly what they are.

Anyway, has anyone any thoughts on this phenomena? Deluded or not?

Ah ha, yes, there is in fact "The Delusions of Economics" by Gilbert Risk. A snip at £16.89.

But nothing on Government, which I do find rather strange.

Did find:-

The Debt Delusion ( "delusion"? ) and "The Diversity Delusion" to add to the list.

Hey, given your little blurb at the bottom of your posts, could you not try penning "The Civilisation Delusion"?

The Innovation Delusion sounds funny. I really know some people who are going nuts about new features on a new iPhone or some crazy investment of Musk. If it was a religion, Musk would be their prophet without a doubt..

Hi, I tried "The USA Delusion" in search and came up with "Empire of Illusion" which according to the blurb deals with the end of literacy and "the culture that gave rise to Trump."

It's all very democratic these days which seems to create a confusion between "everyone is entitled to an opinion" to "one opinion is as good as another." I remembered your "dishonesty" comment on another thread which seems to relate. Then again, Discord Tiger speaking of the "investment" many have made in supporting so many of Donald Trump's assertions (and outright lies) and not having the "honesty" to admit they've been duped.

Our times are really becoming dangerous.

I live in a retirement complex and in the main lounge a few of the residents, well on in life, often do a bit of painting. It brings a bit of peace and quiet and they can take pride in the end product.

I hope you keep at it.
