It's not that one seeks logic in the religious texts. One uses logic to tease out the events that inspired them, or the characters that told them and so forth. One can then compare them to the religious writings of other religions and compare them with historical events. The reason history repeats itself is because people repeat themselves, and some of those people have way too much power.
