NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....!!!!!
Please, America.... Keep him. We don't want him back. The message is aleady going around Derby..... "Lock up your grannies". As sexual predators go, Rooney can't be accused of liking 'em young. Quite the opposite.
We waved him farewell as he jollied off to DC United a couple of years ago and English football and the England national team have flourished in his absence.
We've got a much more harmonious league now. All the bad managerial influences..... Ferguson... Wenger.... Maurinho.... are gone, replaced by the much more gentlemanly and publicly cheerful likes of Klopp, Pochettino and Guardiola.
On the pitch the likes of Harry Kane, Kevin de Bruyne and Mo Salah play with a joyful enthusiasm that didn't exist until Rooney left.
The England team is happy and settled under Gareth Southgate. Gone is the dressing room strife and b****ing over who gets what shirt and how long Wayne will deign to play in any given game before he gets replaced. He won't come back to international football, but he'll sure as hell be disruptively vocal via the press we can be sure of that.
OK, so it wasn't all his fault, but he was symbolic of the nasty face of the game. Now we have football with a smile again. Handshakes and manhugs after matches rather than fist fights as teams leave the pitch.
I for one don't want his scowling, Shrek-like ogre presence back causing trouble, conflict and division every time he shows his plug-ugly face.
It seems he was happy in the US and the fans liked him too. He is popular over there and hey... that's fine by me.
Somebody offer him a shedload of money. That usually does the trick where Wayne is concerned. Do anything. Just persuade him to stay in America.
Keep him. Please.
