Do you believe that science and religion can coincide? Why or Why not?

They do so all the time. Arguments between Creationists and Evolutionists are proof enough of that.

Now if you're asking if they can coexist, that's a different question. Personally, I don't see why not. Religion is a philosophy and science is a logic system that attempts to understand the universe mechanically. As long as religion and science stay out of each other's realms they can totally coexist.

Science is based on belief of empirical evidence and scientific facts reflect a high degree of certitude. Religion is based on faith without evidence and its facts completely certain. The one is objective and the other is subjective...

Let's be a bit more specific then. How about religion and Psychology?

Science has replaced religion and psychologists are where you go to confess your sins.

I don't see why not for basically the same reasons I said for the last question.

Wouldn’t the 12 step program be a place where religion and psychology go together and generally work.

I suppose gay conversion therapy would be a place they don’t go together well. It’s more like torture than assistance.

So like anything, you can have them coexist and the results can either be helpful or harmful depending on the situation. Neither religion nor psychology is always good or always bad.

Doesn't religion use psychology?

Just as sales and marketing use psychology

And almost any organization or institution that wants to control or convince others use psychology.

Science depends on information.

(remove religious context, not needed)
Faith is not dependent on information.

Ignorance is inversely related to information

Gullibility may be correlated to ignorance

With faith, you can get the gullible to send you money...
or vote for you....

as long as you can control the information.

I believe in a sense they do, but not intentionally. Then again, I'm pretty sure some churches are doing that.

Many organizations, institutions and business utilize psychology, not so much to control, but to seek out the well being of those there in order to receive a much better performance.

Do you think a Pastor/Priest/Bishop can utilize psychology in a sermon, or seminar?

Yes, I wouldn't doubt if they do on a regular basis.

rabbis use psychology in services, in storytelling. life experiences that associate with theme of service, that the congregation can relate to.
