I think to support their own (homo)sexuality.
A case of "I am gay and I need you to be gay too"

I have counselled a couple of people who were convinced they were gay but through some circumstance felt very strong feelings towards someone of the opposite sex.

In both cases, another person was instrumental in helping them make up their minds during adolesence (puberty).. when they were most vulnerable.

The choice (if I understand correctly) is not choosing to be it, but choosing to be what you are. (that actually makes sense in my head but it is difficult to translate into words)

What should happen is that a good salesman should ask a lot of questions to find out what really is needed... and offer them that.

I would be happy if people would stop using the word "gender" when they mean "sex". Gender is a word that is properly used in grammar. Word definitions are important, even definitive, in human communications.

That is most girls I have dated summed right there to be honest (well, except in the early days when I unfortunately chose body over brain). Although educated or no they always seemed to commend me for my "mad cunning linguist skillz." It seemed to make them all very happy indeed.
