I've played many Japanese games and only some of them feature japanese voicework. I live in Europe, so it's very interesting for me to play them. One of them is Yakuza 3, one of the best entries in the series.

I would like to know, how much of the subtitles is a full translation of what is being said. The word order is certainly wrong, but I imagine Japanese must structure it differently.

There are words in this video that make me wonder what is actually being said, because Kashira, means head and there are other words that don't conform to the script. Here is the link to the video. Could anyone please tell me what the Tojo Clan bosses are saying?

Don't know if anyone really wants to put in the effort to try and transcribe an 8 minute video of dialogue for a game that not many people have played. What's stopping you from doing it, Conflict?

I don't really have the time, or the patience rather to transcribe this word for word lol. Though, I can say with the exception of a bit of "paraphrasing" and misspellings, the subtitles provided are good.

Nothing, psychoskunk. I just thought that a native speaker might have come forward to enlighten us. I plan to learn Japanese, though first I must finish learning French for my mother. She's coming to the end of her life and I owe it to her as a parting gift, to be able to speak one of her mother tongues. When that is done, I will turn to Japanese.

For now, I can say that I have picked up a few words. For example.

Kashira=boss/head
Nani omae?=what you..?!
Aniki= big brother

Forgive my brashness, but exactly how many tongues can one person call their "mother tongue"????

While 1 is most common, I'm betting 2 also happens...

...maybe 4 (of course that would be a very unusual circumstance).

Of course we would have to agree on the definition of "mother tongue".

JC Chaski... you and your damn definitions!!!

Well, I have been using google translate to formulate what the characters in the cutscene are saying and this...

'Anata ga atsukau subete no sorera no kabushiki ya saiken wa anata no atama no appu, kōzan o okasa rete imasu.'

... reads in the subtitles as...

"All those stocks and bonds you deal with have f***ed your head up, Mine."

But it doesn't correspond to what I hear. I get the impression that what is spoken doesn't match the subtitles always.

I want to learn Japanese, too. I have to finish my French and German studies first, but I would certainly like to continue with Japanese.
